Thank you for supporting our match-funding campaign
Project MAMA’s match funding campaign run during two weeks in September with the ambitious goal of reaching £10,000 worth of donations to unlock the same amount in match-funding pledges by The Big Give from the Women & Girls Fund (previously Tampon Tax).
As part of the campaign we shared extracts from the story of one of our mamas and the support they access through us.
These two weeks were a rollercoaster, where, as an organisation, we were overwhelmed by the support from our village.
Over the last year we’ve provided holistic support to 57 mamas who otherwise might have faced pregnancy and birth alone and who have been subject to asylum and immigration processes under the hostile environment policy.
In the current global climate, we have seen a growing demand of our services. So far this year we’ve supported twice as many mamas compared to this time last year. Reaching our goal allows us to carry on with the work we do, so all mamas have the caring presence of a Mother Companions by their side every step of the way and can bond and build community at our weekly MAMAhub.
Thank you so much to the 121 people who donated, and all of our supporters who shared, liked our posts on socials and participated. We acknowledge that many are going through hard times, we appreciate everyone’s efforts to come together for our mamas and their babes.
